About

Shachindra Dass has spent more than two decades exploring the intersection of art and technology. Born in 1970, he earned a Master’s degree in communication design from the National Institute of Design in India, specializing in animation film design, graphic design, and video. His work—spanning video art, watercolor, environmental art, animation and digital experience design, has been shown throughout Finland, Europe, and beyond.

In every discipline, whether painting, photography, illustration, or digital design, Shachindra’s journey from concept to finished work is a sacred ritual. While the modern world offers shortcuts and tools that can speed up the process, Shachindra believes that the deepest satisfaction comes from engaging fully with each step. As design leader, his work at corporations including Nokia, Microsoft, Basware, Tata etc. exemplifies this philosophy. He led the creation and design of several digital products and services that are being used globally. In design practice Shachindra ensures that every decision reflects user needs and a clear creative vision. Shortcuts don’t help. For Shachindra, creativity isn’t an innate gift but a daily habit of practice, experimentation and reflection. It serves as self‑care that slows us in a fast world, grounds us in our strengths, and supports mental well‑being.

In an age of instant gratification, Shachindra is mindful of hand‑guided creative processes that might seem like acts as a radical counter‑culture movement. He tries to reinforce his connection to both material and digital realms. Outside of his professional life, he engages with the Finnish arts community through memberships in AV‑Arkki, MUU, and other associations, and he continues to pursue personal interests such as bamboo flute, sound design, photographing micro-organisms and exploring new technologies. His career is a testament to the belief that art, technology, and thoughtful practice together can produce work that is both beautiful and profoundly human.
